Things we missed during Covid-19

Coronavirus made us miss our daily routines like working, going out with friends, dining out and even hugging people. The most important thing for public safety during covid-19 is keeping a safe distance and social distancing. This is why we are feeling nostalgic for life’s little moments that have temporarily fallen by the wayside and I think it is absolutely normal to miss all the things we had going on in our lives.

For me there are numerous activities that I miss very much. The first thing is normally going out with my friends. I miss the experience and excitement around Sunday brunch, a weeknight dinner at totally new, undiscovered restaurant or even strolling into my favorite neighborhood for a quick bite. Also, meeting up for coffee or drinks, with my friends is so much missed and I think bartenders and baristas miss us as much as much as we miss them.

People all around the world crave for electronic music festivals, big sports events. These things already seem very unusual, because, when we see too much people in movies, all of us feel little discomfort deep down. Despite all this stuff, sport fans still want to cheer for their favorite sport clubs and teams on the stadium, music enthusiasts want to go to the festival for a few days and relax their mind and free themselves from the negative energy. For many people these things were routine and they were very used to it. So, it still is hard to say no to our loved activities.

Aside from being able to just see family and friends in person, many people really miss the warm embrace that comes with a greeting or goodbye between loved ones, such as hugs and kisses. All these little things were the ones that made our days better and we are still hoping, that it will be back in our lives very soon.

Talking about the things we are missing, we cannot leave out fitness classes. Most of the gyms are closed and fit people, who were used to working out daily there, started running in the parks and mostly started working out outdoors. Yoga, Pilates, spinning, swim, Zumba, boxing, running, weightlifting -- you name it -- people miss it. With gyms closed in most places, people have had to reinvent their workout routines where they can, but, for example, swimming cannot be replaced with any different occasion, so this makes things difficult for sporty people.

One of the most important activities that we miss is sitting on a plane, hours into a long flight and travelling. That is the point where you are completely disconnected from the world and watching the movie that you did not get to see in movie theaters. And also, we def miss movie theaters. Sometimes I hear the sound of movie theater popcorn popping as I walk into the theater to see the latest movie to come out.

Coronavirus showed us, that these are the little things that matter. Despite the things that we miss, we understood that health is the most important thing in our lives and the pandemic brought us closer to our family and closed ones.
